This plant begins to bloom in late December to early January. Since it’s still winter time, you can take this beautiful orchid indoors to enjoy the blooms while they last!

This specie can bloom for up to 3 whole months and are surprisingly easy to care for. The lasting blooms and low sun requirements make it a great blooming houseplant to enjoy for several months.

Throughout most the year, this plant can be tucked away in a section of the yard with regular irrigation and light sun. The plant can endured temperatures down to the mid 30’s without showing any signs of stress.

Begin by tidying up the plant. Then, to get this plant to be self sufficient while it grows indoors, schedule an automated lighting and irrigation system. This is done by placing about 3 inches of leca at the bottom of this glass vase. Then, pour 2” inches of warm water into the vase, water the orchid and rest the pot over the leca. To limit precipitation from escaping, cover the pot with some stones.

Next place this vase over a heat mat and schedule the heat to run for 2 hours a day, every 3 days. The heat mat will heat up the water, create precipitation and irrigate the roots every 3 days!

Finally, set up a grow light to approximately 4 hours a day between 5-9pm. This light will not only keep the orchid healthy and happy, it will provide lighting for your living space during the evening hours!

Now, you will get to enjoy these beautiful lasting blooms throughout the rest of winter!
