Anthurium Podophyllum

Anthurium Podophyllum is native to coastal parts of Mexico, namely Veracruz and Oaxaca. It is a terrestrial species, with palmate leaves that feel relatively tough and  leathery. Each leaf can grow up to 3' long and wide. Anthurium Podophyllum can grow as either an epiphyte on the sides and branches of trees where its roots cascade down the side making a very attractive display. On the other hand, it can grow as a terrestrial species.

How to Care for Anthurium Podophyllum

Water: These plants perform best with regular watering (approximately 3-4 days/wk in moderate climate) with light to medium sun. They also make great houseplants. Fertilize them with a diluted formula regularly for best results. If the roots have become black or overly soft, the plant could be experiencing root rot. Cut away black or overly soft roots that may be causing root rot, repot in relatively chunkier soil and continued to fertilize and water as recommended. Do not let this species sit in excess water and do not place in full sun, as the leaves can get scorched in the hot sun.

Soil: These plants do best in an airy chunky mix. We generally pot our in a 1/3 Coco Bark, Perlite and Coco Coir Mix.
