Schefflera Actinophylla Nova for Sale and Care Info

In its native environment, Schefflera Actinophylla Nova is a rainforest Hemiepiphyte and spends part of its life on another tree until its aerial roots reach the ground and dig in. This is a very rare unusual looking schefflera that are deeply serrated and have very pointy tips. With its glossy green and highly palmate leaves, this tree boasts a wispy, light and airy appearance as it reaches a mature height of 50 feet. New growth is bronze colored, later turning to dark green as the compound leaves mature. 

Flowering is a spectacle when the large racemes, which can be 6 feet long, emerge from the top of the tree like a party hat allowing thousands small red flowers to burst open, attracting birds and bees with its delicious nectar.

Give it rich soil, moisture, and partial to full sun. It is more cold sensitive than other varieties of umbrella tree, defoliating under 40F. If protected from freezing, it should regrow new leaves as temperatures warm. USDA zones 10 - 12.
